- Testing you ask for yourself is paid out of pocket. If you have symptoms and Japanese health insurance, part of it may be covered instead — we will tell you which applies.

This Is Not a Health Check
The two get confused, and they are different things. A health check is a fixed package — height, weight, blood pressure, chest X-ray, a standard set of bloods — usually done because an employer, a school or Japanese law requires it. You do not choose the contents.
What is on this page is the opposite: individual tests, ordered because you or a doctor wants that particular number. No package, no X-ray, no form to hand in.
If what you actually need is the packaged version, that is our health checkup. If you are not sure which one your employer means, bring whatever they sent you and we will read it.
How It Works
On the day
You see a doctor first and we agree what to order. Then blood is taken — a few minutes. Most panels do not need you to fast, but blood sugar and lipids read better if you do, so ask when you book if those are on your list.

Results
Common panels come back quickly. Specialist ones go to an outside laboratory and take longer. We go through what the numbers mean rather than handing you a sheet — a value slightly outside a reference range is often nothing, and knowing which ones matter is the point of doing it here.
We write results in English. If you want them in a format a doctor at home can use, say so and we will write it that way.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral?
No. You can order tests yourself. If a doctor at home has given you a list, bring it and we will order what is on it.
Do I need Japanese health insurance?
No. Testing you request yourself is paid out of pocket either way. If you have symptoms and you are insured here, some of it may be covered instead.
Do I have to fast?
Not for most panels. Blood sugar and lipids read better fasting, so tell us when you book if those are what you need and we will give you a time that works.
Can you test something unusual?
Often yes. Less common tests are sent to an outside laboratory, which takes longer and costs more. Tell us the test name and we will find out before you come in.
Can you write the results in English?
Yes, and we can write them so that a doctor in your own country can act on them. Reference ranges here are not always the same as at home, so we include them.
What if something comes back abnormal?
We explain what it means and what, if anything, to do next. If it needs a specialist we will say so and help you find one. Many results that fall slightly outside a range need nothing at all.
