We do not stock yellow fever vaccine. In Japan it is only given at quarantine stations and at facilities designated by the Ministry of Health, and the International Certificate (the yellow card) is issued there too. If your destination requires it, contact a designated facility.
Yellow fever vaccine is a live vaccine, so it has to be spaced from other live vaccines. If you are also being vaccinated here, tell us and we will work out the order.

About Our Travel Clinic
At Japan International Clinic ASAKUSA we look at where you are going and what you will be doing there, then suggest the vaccines and preventive medication that fit. Living in Japan protects you from a good deal, but some destinations call for vaccines you would never need here.
Several vaccines take more than one dose. Rabies and hepatitis B are given over weeks, with set intervals in between, so it is worth coming in as soon as a posting, a course or a long trip is confirmed.
Which vaccines you need is not decided by the destination alone. We ask how long you are staying, what time of year, and what you will actually be doing. Coming in with no idea what you need is a perfectly good place to start.
We are open 7 days a week until 19:00, so you do not have to take a day off. Asakusa Station is one minute away on the Ginza Line, the Toei Asakusa Line and the Tsukuba Express.
We consult in English and issue certificates and medical letters in English for your school or employer. Ask us about family visits and about bookings made by a company.
By Purpose
Studying or Working in the USA
US schools and employers often set out exactly which vaccines they require and on which form. Bring the form and we will work through it with you.
For Companies
We vaccinate staff heading overseas on assignment or on business, billed to the company. Ask us about invoicing and about scheduling several people.
Certificates in English
We issue vaccination certificates and medical letters in English, and complete forms supplied by your school or employer.
Pre-Departure Health Checks
We carry out the health checks required before an overseas posting or a long stay. Check which items are required and bring the form.
Frequently Asked Questions
I do not have a Boshi Kenko Techo. Can I still be vaccinated?
Yes. Records from your home country are just as useful, in any language — bring what you have and we will read it with you. If you have no records at all, we explain how to proceed without them.
Which vaccines do I actually need?
That depends on where you are going, how long you are staying, what time of year and what you will be doing there. You do not need to decide before you come. Book a consultation and we will work it out together.
Can you write the certificate in English?
Yes. We issue vaccination certificates and medical letters in English, and we can complete a form supplied by your school or employer. Bring the form with you.
Can you write it in my own language?
We issue documents in English and Japanese. If your destination requires another language, tell us before your visit and we will explain what is possible.
Do you have yellow fever vaccine?
No. In Japan, yellow fever vaccine is only given at quarantine stations and medical institutions designated by the Ministry of Health, and the International Certificate is issued there as well. If your destination requires it, contact a designated facility.

We observe you in the clinic afterwards and explain how to spend the rest of the day, along with side effects that can occur and what to do about them.

Before You Book
Does health insurance cover this?
Travel vaccinations are not covered by Japanese health insurance and are paid out of pocket. We explain the cost during your consultation.
I am leaving soon. Is there still time?
We work with the time you have. Even for vaccines that need several doses, there is often a way to fit in the doses that count most before you go. If we cannot finish in time, we explain what to watch for at your destination and what to do if you fall ill there.
Can I be vaccinated on the day I come in?
Yes, for vaccines we have in stock. Some have to be ordered in, so please call ahead if you already know what you need.
I am worried about side effects. What can happen?
Pain, redness or swelling where you were injected, along with fever, are the most common. We explain what can happen and what to do about it before you are vaccinated, and we observe you in the clinic afterwards.
